Before You Start

Before beginning the installation, make sure you have enough time and workspace to safely remove or lower the vehicle headliner.

The Pro RGBW Multicolor Starlight Headliner Kit includes a 10-foot wire, which provides enough reach for most vehicle headliner setups.

Basic Installation Overview

  1. Carefully remove or lower the vehicle headliner.
  2. Plan the layout for your fiber optic stars.
  3. Mark the locations where each fiber optic strand will be installed.
  4. Use a small installation tool or drill bit to create holes in the headliner.
  5. Feed each fiber optic strand through the headliner from the back side.
  6. Secure the fibers in place using adhesive.
  7. Once the adhesive has dried, trim the visible fiber ends flush with the front side of the headliner.
  8. Mount the light engine/controller in a safe, hidden location.
  9. Connect the fiber bundle to the light engine.
  10. Connect power and ground.
  11. Test the kit before fully reinstalling the headliner.
  12. Reinstall the headliner once everything is working properly.

Shooting Star Effect Installation

If your kit includes the shooting star effect, the shooting star fibers will be separate from the standard RGBW star fibers.

The shooting star section uses smaller fiber bundles that connect to the separate white LED ports on the motor/control module. These ports are specifically for the shooting star effect.

Please note: the shooting star effect is white only. It does not change colors like the standard RGBW starlight fibers.

Shooting Star Install Steps

  1. Locate the separate white LED ports on the motor/control module.
  2. Connect the shooting star mounting hardware to the module.
  3. Insert the smaller shooting star fiber bundles into the white LED ports on the module.
  4. Plan where you want the shooting star effect to appear on the headliner.
  5. Install the shooting star fibers in a straight or slightly curved line across the headliner.
  6. Space the fibers evenly for the best moving effect.
  7. Secure the fibers with adhesive.
  8. Test the shooting star effect before reinstalling the headliner.

Securing the Shooting Star Fibers

The shooting star fibers need to be secured inside the chrome metal sleeves before connecting them to the white LED ports on the module.

  1. Gather the smaller shooting star fiber bundle.
  2. Slide the chrome circular metal sleeve/bracket over the fiber bundle.
  3. With the fibers inserted into the chrome sleeve, crimp the back end of the chrome sleeve/bracket to hold the fibers in place.
  4. Once the fibers are secured, flush cut the fiber ends so they sit evenly at the end of the sleeve.
  5. Insert the chrome metal sleeve into the white LED port on the motor/control module.
  6. Secure the chrome sleeve to the module using the included black screws.

Make sure the fiber ends are cut clean and sit flush so the white LED can shine directly into the fiber bundle. The shooting star fibers must be connected to the separate white LED ports on the module, not the standard RGBW fiber port.
