RGB Halo Kits Controller Compatibility Guide

  • Updated

Learn which Flow and RGBW products can be combined on the same physical controller, which products need their own controller, and which controllers can be synced together in the app.

This guide explains which RGB Halo Kits products can be combined on the same physical controller and which products need their own controller.

In many cases, products can either be run from the same controller or synced together through the app. The correct setup depends on the product type, voltage, connector type, and controller style.

Quick Summary

Most products can be grouped by these main categories:

  • 5V Flow products can usually run together on the same physical controller.
  • 12V Flow products usually need their own controller because they are larger circuits.
  • 5V Flow Fiber Optic kits need their own controller because they use smaller M6 connectors.
  • RGBW products are mostly 12V and can usually run together on the same RGBW controller.
  • RGBW underglow and RGBW fiber optic kits use specialty connectors/controllers and need their own controller.
  • Starlight headliner kits use the My SmartLED app and do not currently connect to the RGB Halo Kits app.

5V Flow Products

Most of our 5V Flow products can be run from the same physical Flow controller, as long as the controller has enough outputs for the setup.

These products can be combined on the same physical controller:

  • Flow headlights
  • Flow tail lights
  • Flow DRL kits
  • Flow LED emblems
  • Flow engine bay lights
  • Flow grille lights
  • Flow halo rings
  • Flow fog light halos
  • Flow headlight strip lighting
  • Flow demon eyes
  • Flow side markers
  • Flow interior footwell kits

These products can also be synced across multiple Flow controllers in the app and controlled together.

12V Flow Products

Some Flow products are 12V and use larger circuits. These products need and come with their own controller.

The following 12V Flow products should not be combined on the same physical controller as smaller 5V Flow products:

  • Flow underglow kits
  • Flow wheel rings
  • Flow 16ft LED rolls

Even though these products need their own physical controller, they can still be synced in the app with other Flow controllers and controlled together.

5V Flow Fiber Optic Kits

Our 5V Flow Fiber Optic kits use smaller M6 connectors instead of the larger M8 connectors used on most other 5V Flow products.

Because of this connector difference, Flow Fiber Optic kits need their own controller.

The smaller M6 connector is used because it is better suited for interior fiber optic strip lighting.

Flow Footwell Kits

Our Flow footwell kits use M8 connectors, not M6 connectors.

Because of this, Flow footwell kits can be run on the same physical controller as other compatible 5V Flow products.

RGBW Products

Most RGBW products are 12V and are more compatible with each other.

The following RGBW products can generally be run from the same physical RGBW controller, as long as the controller has enough outputs for the setup:

  • RGBW demon eyes
  • RGBW DRL kits
  • RGBW halo rings
  • RGBW strip lighting
  • RGBW LED emblems
  • RGBW headlights
  • RGBW tail lights
  • RGBW interior footwell kits

Most RGBW products use M8 connectors, which allows them to work together on the same style RGBW controller.

RGBW Underglow

RGBW underglow uses a different controller connector than most other RGBW products.

Most RGBW products use M8 connectors, but RGBW underglow uses an M12 connector. Because of this, RGBW underglow needs its own controller and should not be combined on the same physical controller as standard RGBW products.

RGBW Fiber Optic Kits

RGBW fiber optic kits use a specialty connector and controller setup.

Because of this, RGBW fiber optic kits need their own controller, which is included with the kit.

Syncing Multiple Controllers Together

Even when products cannot be combined on the same physical controller, many controllers can still be synced together in the app.

This means separate products may still be controlled together from the app, even if they each require their own controller.

For example:

  • 5V Flow products can be synced with other Flow controllers.
  • 12V Flow underglow can be synced with other Flow controllers.
  • 12V Flow wheel rings can be synced with other Flow controllers.
  • RGBW controllers can be synced together in the RGB Halo Kits app.

Starlight Headliner Kits

Starlight headliner kits use a different controller and app.

Our starlight headliner kits use the My SmartLED app and cannot currently be controlled through the RGB Halo Kits app.

Because of this, starlight headliner kits cannot be synced with RGB Halo Kits Flow or RGBW controllers at this time.

Need Help Choosing the Right Controller Setup?

If you are unsure whether your products can be combined on the same controller, please contact us before ordering.

Send us the products you plan to install, along with photos of the connectors if available. Our team can help confirm whether the products can share one controller or need separate controllers that can be synced together in the app.
