When sending your headlights to RGB Halo Kits for repair, service, installation, or inspection, proper packaging is extremely important. Headlights are fragile and can be damaged during transit if they are not protected correctly.
Please follow the steps below before shipping your headlights.
Why Packaging Matters
Headlights have fragile lenses, mounting tabs, brackets, wiring, and internal components. Shipping damage can happen if the headlight moves around inside the box or if the lens is not protected.
RGB Halo Kits is not responsible for damage caused by poor packaging, improper protection, or carrier handling during shipment to us. Please take the time to package your headlights carefully.
What You Will Need
We recommend using:
- Cling wrap / plastic wrap
- Bubble wrap
- Packing paper or foam
- A strong cardboard box
- Packing tape
- Optional: corner protection, foam blocks, or double boxing for high-value headlights
Step 1: Wrap the Lens With Cling Wrap (required)
Start by covering the headlight lens with cling wrap or plastic wrap.
This is a must.
The cling wrap helps protect the lens from scratches, rubbing, dust, and packaging material during shipping.
Make sure the full lens is covered before adding bubble wrap.
Step 2: Add Bubble Wrap Over the Lens
(optional if you have manufactures packaging)
After the lens is covered with cling wrap, add a thick layer of bubble wrap over the lens area.
The lens should have extra padding because it is one of the easiest parts of the headlight to scratch, crack, or damage.
Do not place the lens directly against cardboard, foam, or packing paper without protection.
Step 3: Wrap the Entire Headlight
Once the lens is protected, wrap the full headlight housing with bubble wrap or foam.
Pay special attention to:
- Mounting tabs
- Corners
- Brackets
- Projector area
- Wiring connectors
- Any sharp or fragile edges
Mounting tabs are one of the most common parts damaged during shipping, so make sure they are padded well.
Step 4: Secure the Headlight Inside the Box
Place the wrapped headlight into a strong box with padding on the bottom, sides, and top.
The headlight should be secure inside the box and should not be able to slide around.
Before sealing the box, gently shake it. If you feel or hear the headlight moving, add more padding.
The headlight should be packed tightly enough that it stays in place, but not so tight that pressure is placed directly on the lens or tabs.
Step 5: Protect Multiple Headlights Separately
If you are sending both headlights, each headlight must be wrapped separately.
Do not place two headlights directly against each other inside the box.
Use padding or cardboard in between the headlights so they cannot rub, hit, or put pressure on each other during shipping.
For expensive or hard-to-replace headlights, we recommend double boxing.
Step 6: Include Your Information Inside the Box
Please include a note inside the box with:
- Your full name
- Order number
- Return/RMA number if provided
- Phone number or email
- Brief reason for sending the headlights in
This helps our team match the headlights to your order or service request when they arrive.
Step 7: Seal the Box Well
Use strong packing tape and seal all edges of the box.
Make sure the box is not weak, crushed, torn, or reused too many times.
If the box feels flimsy, use a stronger box or double box the shipment.
Important Packaging Tips
- Do not ship headlights loose in a box.
- Do not allow the lens to touch cardboard directly.
- Do not rely only on packing peanuts.
- Do not place heavy items on top of the headlights.
- Do not ship both headlights touching each other.
- Do not leave mounting tabs exposed.
- Do not use a box that is too large without filling the empty space.
- Do not use a damaged or weak box.
Recommended Packing Method
For best protection, use this order:
- Cling wrap over the lens
- Bubble wrap over the lens
- Bubble wrap around the full headlight
- Extra padding around tabs and corners
- Secure placement inside the box
- No movement inside the box
- Double box if needed
Before You Ship
Before shipping, confirm:
- Lens is covered with cling wrap
- Lens has bubble wrap over it
- Entire headlight is wrapped
- Tabs and corners are protected
- Headlight cannot slide around inside the box
- Your name and order/RMA information are inside the box
- Box is fully sealed and secure
Shipping Damage Notice
Please understand that headlights can be damaged in transit or the lens can get scatched if they are not packaged correctly. RGB Halo Kits is not responsible for damage caused by poor packaging or carrier mishandling during shipment to us.
If the package arrives damaged, we will document the condition and notify you before moving forward with the service or repair.
